The Bird River Walk

The Bird River Track to Kelly Basin can be located by following McNamara Street, South all the way through the Town, Past the Golf Club. When Following this Road, you will end up at Mt Jukes overlooking Lake burbury, (some Great Photo Opportunities here). Continue following this road to the end of Sealed Road, (25 Km's from town). From there follow Gravel Road 10Kms to a road junction. Take Right hand Track, (Narrow Road) to Bird River Parking area, (5Kms).

From This point the Walking track heads south to Kelly Basin on Macquarie Harbour. This is a 3Hr Return walk on mostly level ground, and well worth the walk. The Track follows the old Rail Formation that leads to the Old Port of Pillinger
The Old Bridge seen (Above Left), is one of the original Bridges, and is at the Start of the Walk to Kelly Basin
Seen (Above Right) is a photo of the river taken from near the Bridge. Ajacent to this area are facilities with picnic tables etc right next to the river.
Shown (Above Left), is a section of the walking track. The track winds it's way through some typical West Coast Wilderness areas with huge Tree Ferns etc.
Another section of the walking track is shown (Above Right). This section is close to where another couple visiting the State, spotted a Tasmanian Devil crossing the track.

The Photo (Left), shows one of the massive Tree Ferns found all along the track.

Seen (Below Left), is the boardwalk through the bush to the site of the Brick Kilms.

Seen below, (Below Right), is on of the small Creeks running through the area.
