Evans Old Corner Store & Market |
The Original Evans Queenstown Store was built in the 1800's and the same family still operates the store along with another larger Supermarket in the Towns Main Street. For many years the "Old Corner Store" fell into bad disrepair. Several years ago, the owners commenced a project to restore the heritage building to it's former glory. The Photo (Below Left) is a view of the store in the late 1800's, (note the lack of vegetation on the hill behind). The Photo (Below Right), is a recent one of the store. The renovations of this building are to this day, on-going. The Building is now used once a month for the local Market. The Market is held on the 3rd sunday of ever month. An example of how the hills around the town are regaining their growth is evident in the comparison of the two Photo's. |
