The Montazuma Falls
![]() |
There are two options available to reach the Montazuma Falls. There is a four wheel drive track from Melba Flats, (between Zeehan Turnoff and Rosebery on the Murcheson Highway), or travel to Williamsford, (turnoff just South of Rosebery on Murcheson Highway), then follow Montazuma Track from Parking area. The walk from here is about 3 Hr return. The photo (Left) shows a view of one section of the track. |

The track follows an old dissused tram line through spectacular temperate rainforests. The walk is an easy walk on a well maintained track, with foot bridges built over any creeks etc. The photo (Right), shows one of the new bridges with the old bridge fenced off on the left of it. |

The
Montazuma Falls at around 113 metres high, are the highest falls in
tasmania. There is now a suppension bridge across the river just in
front of the falls. This bridge links the track from Melba Flats to
the Track from Williamsford, allowing walkers to walk all the way through.
The whole trip from Williamsford to Melba Flats is around 20 Kilometres,
and is also suited to mountain bikes.
